Postgame Presser: Jaguars HC

After allowing the Panthers to methodically work their way down the field the Jags D pulled the curtains on Carolina's offense. At the forefront of the gameplan this week was keeping Christian from gaining the edge while forcing Cam to be a pocket passer.

Blake had an efficient, turnover free day. Borts was able to hit on a shot play to Allen Hurns for 58 yards to produce his lone touchdown.

Leonard had an extremely productive day resulting in 3 TD's. The back from LSU was never hit in the backfield along the way to almost 150 yards, a testament to the job the OL was able to do against a strong Carolina front.

The Carolina Pass defence was able to close windows in a hurry resulting in 3 dropped passes to go with 5 PD's. Julius Peppers has found the fountain of youth as he was able to drop Borts for a sack, getting there in a hurry.

Our BIGS on D built their house in the Panthers backfield coming up with 8 TFL's and 4 sacks. For the third week straight the D was able to hold an offense to less than 100 total yards. Bouye and Ramsay closed the outside down for business. T.Gips continued his ballhawking streak with another interception roaming the deep third of the field.

Lambo was perfect on the day with 5 XP and 1 FG for 26 yards.

Nortman's incredible leg was on full display finishing the day with 3 punts netting 44.3 yards with 1 TB.

Dede Westbrook was the ST Ace of the game jumpstarting the offense after a 30 yard punt return allowing the offense to start their go-ahead drive on the Carolina's turf.

Blair Brown led the teams units with 2 tackles on KO's

Postgame Presser: Jags HC

A tough defensive effort from the team out of Miami kept the run game in the station and forced Bortles to beat them through the air. Outside of one outstanding play from Xavien Howard Blake put his best foot forward in producing an efficient outing. It's fair to say after the last 4 games Borts is clicking with his new Playcaller.

Fournette couldn't find the room to roam but picked up a few tough yards for first downs. Even though we stayed committed to the run throughout, the staunch front 7 led by Ndamukong Suh held their Gaps all night long inside, while Xavien and Reshad Jones shut down any hopes of running outside.

The receivers found success underneath with a few opportunistic strikes against some over-the-top coverages employed by the 'Phins secondary.

Not enough can be said about the absolute shutout from our defence, not allowing Miami to eclipse 100 yards over the course of the game. It was completed from front to back led by defensive captains Calais Campbell Paul Posluszny and Tashaun Gipson. Jalen Ramsay continues to shut down his side of the field against any receiver the opposing teams throw against him. Yannick Ngakoue made the most out of his limited reps getting a sack in under 15 snaps.

Josh Lambo had a perfect day with 2 FG's and 2 XP

Blair Brown was the ST Ace of the week, coming away with 2 tackles on the KO unit,

Postgame Presser: Jags HC

Another solid performance put in for Bortles. He had a 70% completion percentage for us and kept the chains moving all day for a solid 17 first downs. Long sustained drives were the key to success as we kept the speedy chiefs D off the field.

The Electric Fournette continues to prove he can carry the offense with the help of the big dummies in front.

Hurns continues to prove to be a consistent deep threat with Marquise and Dede working the rest of the routes.

Defensively we were stifling allowing only 80 combined yards with 0 coming on the ground. No room to operate underneath and solid tackling all night led to quick stops. Tashaun Gipson was the Ballhawk of the night collecting 4 INTS.

The ST Ace for the night was Josh Lambo who continues to be a weapon in the kicking game giving us 10 points on the night.

Leonard Fournette carried the Jaguars on his back with 25 carries for 158 yards and a TD to a 20-19 victory.

Bortles squandered almost every opportunity the defense gave him and tossed 4 ints.

The best corner tandem in the league went to work again and limited the dynamic DeAndre Hopkins to 2 catches for 64 yards.

Yannick Ngakoue stepped up the pass rush and got home 2 times.

A STOUT Jags front 7 showed up tonight and only allowed 16 total yards on the ground, forcing the Texans to look to the passint attack for any production.

Postgame presser Jaguars HC: Tough opening day OT defeat after a brilliant late game rally. A slug fest of rushing and bend don't break D's.

Bortles had a rough outing as he had a couple tipped balls go for ints in the RZ. I need to do a better job of getting him into a flow earlier in the game.

Fournette is exactly what we were looking for when we selected him in the 1st round. A true bellcow back that can carry the load on offense and control the clock.

The WR's are doing their part and finding space to operate, have to find ways to get them the ball. The dropped balls are an issue that we need to clean up.

Marcedes and Koyack make a perfect TE tandem for our team as we look for a smash mouth rushing attack.

A mental error ended the game for us off the OL, a correctable error, besides that they gave ample time and running room today.

Defensively we have to be stronger against the run. We're not happy with the success the steelers found against us, premier rusher or not we have to be more stout.

The secondary was successful in limiting AB and we look for great things out of this group going forward.

We'll learn, make the proper adjustments and move onto next week.

Go JAGS!
