The Chargers headed back to LA this week to host the .500 Texans. After taking the opening kick off, the Chargers marched downfield on a 10 play drive capped by a Melvin Gordon 18 yard run for a touchdown. "Our gameplan was to run the rock since Phillip hasn't had the protection he's needed over the last 11 games" said Kane, "we knew he was ready but he basically carried us starting with the first drive". Gordon ultimately ran for 124 yards on 31 carries with two TD's. "With the run heavy scheme this week we were able to let Philip throw the ball conservatively and it all worked out in the end" said Kane,

Defensively, the Bolts were able to keep pressure on Watson and contain Miller. "I was pretty happy to see us hold Miller to less than 1.8 YPC even thought they didn't give him the ball much" said Kane, "but I was really happy about forcing Watson to throw 5 INT's to keep the ball on our side". The Texan's QB was able to move the ball 171 yards on 23 attempts but the pressure from the defensive line contributed to 5 interceptions. "Bosa had a great game supporting the run, but Ingram was the real factor today with several QB rushes and 3 sacks" said Kane, "we're giving Melvin the game ball along with Gordon".

The Chargers are headed into the final 3 games of the season with 2 critical division games on the line. "We didn't play too well against either the Rams or the Broncos early in the season" said Kane, "we're hoping that the recent momentum we picked up will change that for the 2nd time around".

Slugfest in Qualcomm - Bolts Sneak in the win
The self proclaimed game of the week with the gritty Eagles and hometown Chargers almost didn't get in due to various technical difficulties experienced by the Bolts. After bringing in multiple consultants, the Bolts were able to take the fields sans some critical playbook data. The Eagles sent the opening kick off sailing then lined up with their trademark smash mouth D and forced the Bolts to punt out of their first drive. But the Bolts came to play D too and came up with a pick 6 by Steve Williams to strike first on the scoreboard. The Eagles answered on the next drive with a FG to close out the first quarter. After trading possessions in the 2nd, the Eagles popped the Chargers in the mouth with a 45 yard TD to push the lead to 10-7 where they finished the half. The slugfest continued in the scoreless 3rd with the Bolts mounting a drive to close the period which culminated in a 16 yard TD pass to Stevie Johnson 1:31 into the 4th. The Eagles answered again, this time at the end of a 4:35 drive with 9 yd Agholor TD catch to push it to a17-14 lead. After an Eagles pick followed by a punt, the Chargers find themselves with 88 yards of turf between them and win #1. After a quick first down and two knocked down attempts, Malcolm Floyd finally gets single coverage at the same time Rivers didn't have a green helmet in his chest and ran under a beautifully placed ball against a corner who turn and ran the other way! After picking himself up off the turf, Floyd rambles the remaining 31 yards for the go ahead score. The Eagle down, but never out continue to out the ball up and march downfield in the final minute of the game only to be robbed by Weddle at the goal line with :21 left to play.
